This is our hallway closet. It has three sliding doors (which I hate). You can see their edges in these pictures. These doors do not show more than a third of the closet at the same time. Which I find infinitely annoying. For a year we had some awesome curtains working instead of doors (which I made myself while waiting for Baby C to make an appearance). This way we were able to see ALL of the closet at the same time vs just a piny part. We had to put the doors back up when we put the house on the market (at our realtor's suggestion).
There are two clothing rods, one short and one tall for all our outter wear. And one section with shelving (shown above) as our "landing strip" and storage for my shoes :) Plus there are two shelves above the short clothing rod, and one shelf above the tall clothing rod for extra storage.
Our shoes, scarves, and essential-going-out-the-door things are stored in plastic Ikea storage boxes. Two boxes stack nicely on each shelf to maximize storage space. The dish is for keys and sunglasses.
For the DIY part: this is all Ikea shelving solutions. Shelves and inside of the closet we painted the same colour for uniformity. Some pictures of the hardware are shown above. There's really nothing to the construction of this closet, just some calculations and lots of work with a level to make sure it is all even and straight. Hubby did all the work, so I can't take credit. But it didn't take him too too long.
Hope you like it :)
